North Ronaldsay - Orkney’s northmost island is as near to Shetland’s Fair Isle as it is to Kirkwall. It is renowned for its seashore grazing sheep and the 13 mile long sheep dyke. Many consider North Ronaldsay as still preserving some ways of life which have been lost elsewhere in Orkney.
The island’s population has fought hard to reverse depopulation and island services are excellent including a primary school and medical practice. The air service is excellent and, indeed, it is possible to live in North Ronaldsay and commute to Kirkwall daily!
